My Father's Dragon by Ruth Gannett
My Father's Dragon is about a kid that wants to get this stray cat, but when his mom sees the cat and her milk and bowl she said, "NO". But one day when his mom was not home he found the cat and took it back to his house, but then his mom threw it out. But the kid went and found him. They were talking about all the adventures that the cat had going on. I think this is a Newbery book because it is like you are in a different world. The kid wanted to go all over the world, like the cat did.

What a great book choice, John! I can really relate to the kid in this story because I also want to go all over the world, and until I can go myself, I love reading about the adventures of others who can - even if it is fiction!
