Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverly Cleary
This book is good because it is about a kid that writes to this author named Mr. Henshaw. The kid's name is Leigh Botts and his parents are divorced because when his parents were married and hid dad started going cross country in his truck they got divorced. Mr. Henshaw's book Ways to Amuse a Dog and he does tons of book reports on it as he gets older. When Leigh's dad is driving in his truck, Leigh waits for his dad to call him, but he usually doesn't. One time he called Leigh because his dad lost Bandit. Hid dad sent him a letter with a napkin with twenty dollars and the napkin said "sorry about bandit, go buy yourself an ice cream cone. Leigh was mad about that. Leigh also got to meet the famous author too. I think this got the Newbery medal because it is just an awesome book.

Saturn by Elaine Landau
Saturn is a really interesting planet. Saturn has seven rings and the rings are not one piece. They are made of rock from the sizes of tinier that a grain of sand to larger than a house. If a space ship enters Saturn's atmosphere it would crush like a can. Saturn has no solid surface to stand on, so if you tried to stand on it you would go right through. That's just some facts about Saturn. Learn more about it my going to the astronomy section in the library.

Galaxies are filled with stars, gas and dust. Galaxies with lots of gas and dust usually have more stars. All galaxies are not alike. They have different numbers of stars and different shapes.

Joyful Noise by Paul Fleischman
I think this book was a Newbery winner because it was a great book and it was unusual. Another thing about it is that it has miniature poems about different things all packed together in one and that made it more interesting. I think this book really deserves the award and it does. After I read this book I learned that poems can be about anything. Last, I want to say that this book will be great to read and I hope you enjoy it.

I like this poem book because its poems have lots of awesome words. Also the book has lots of super titles. I thought the best poem was the Moth's Seranade. The first two paragraphs were the best. You want to hear it well then, here it is: Porch light, hear my plight. I drink your light like nectar by day. Gaze in your eyes all night porch light. I think you should read this book because it is a really awesome poetry book.

This book is a really good honor book. It should be an honor book, because it has a lot of action and suspense. I think every child should read this because they go on this trip to save the apples everybody loves. The truck just keeps going because they hate the apples. Read this book!

This book is about a boy whose father has died and needs to fix his automaton. Hugo thinks the automaton will do something for his life. I think you should read this book because it has so many adventures and interesting characters. I think it won the award because of the great pictures. My favorite part is the ending. I'm not telling you anymore than this. You have to read the book!

this is a great book. It is about 2 kids, Sophie and Cody and their families. The sail across the Atlantic Ocean from Connecticut to land off England. They go there for a very important reason. If you want to find out why they sail to England, and what happens while they are sailing there, read this funny and adventurous book about Sophie and Cody. I think it got the Newbery Medal because of all the imagery in the book and how it expresses the character's feelings.

The Wednesday Wars by Gary Schmidt
A Presbyterian boy , Holling Hoodbood has just started 7th grade attending Camillo Junior High. Holling knows his teacher, Mrs. Baker is out to get him some how. I mean, is there any other reason why she would make him read Shakespeare outside of class? His 7th grade school year starts in 1967 when everybody in his school has bigger things to worry about than getting cream puffs to avoid being dead meat. Like the war that's going on in Vietnam. Holling's father could care less about everything in the world. All he cares about is the Hoodbood's family business and its success. Can Holling stay out of trouble with Mrs. Baker as his teacher? I think this book deserves the Newbery honor because of its humor and suspense. This book is full of humor. Even Holling's name is funny. Think about it Holling Hoodbood, now that is hysterical. In this book, you never know what's going to happen next. For instance one moment Holling is about to be beat to a prune and the next he's saved! This book is amazing!

Martin's Big Words by Doreen Rappaport
When Martin was a little boy he always saw signs that said: "Whites only". Then he felt like he was just a nobody and only whites can be good people. Until his mother told him "you are as good as anybody".Martin grew up and became a minister like his dad, and he told blacks and some whites "everyone can be great".One dayMartin Luther King, Jr . gave a speech "I have a dream, that one day in Alabama little black boys and black girls will join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers". One day he was walking out of his motel and he was shot. He died. Now we all know that we are equal.
I think that this book should be a Newbery book because this is a very important lesson too teach little children and also just a very cool book to read.

Roy Everharbt just moved from Boseman, Montana to Coconut Cove, Fl. He is not happy about it, but thanks to the biggest bully in school, Dana, Roy sees a strange barefoot boy running down the sidewalk. Soon Roy finds that kid is called "Mullet Fingers" and needs help to save burrowing owls at the construction site of a future Mother Paula Pancake House. Along with Beatrice, Roy, Mullet Fingers and Beatrice, the three middle school friends have to stop the construction once and for all. See if the three friends complete their goal by reading "Hoot." I think Hoot won the Newbery medal because of the way Carl Hiaasen describes the characters, like the sly Mullet Fingers.

The Tale of Despereaux is an examplary book. It is very exciting and adventurous. It also uses good descriptive words. The book feels like you are right next to what is happening in the book. This book was about how there was a not so healthy girl. She had said she had one hundred dresses in her closet, but she wore the same dress every day. So one day, she invited them to her house to see them and there was one hundred dresses in there. Read the book to find our who she had one hundred dresses but only wore one. I thin this book was chosen because of the creative writing and drawing. Also, it helps readers understand how grateful they are.

The name of this book is Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. Roy is not happy about moving to Florida, he even quotes "Disney is an armpit compared to Montana." The last two years he's happily been living in Boseman, Montana. Roy's family moves a lot because his dad works with the department of justice. Out of all the places Roy has lived, his favorite was Montana. One day down in Coconut Cove, Fl. he spots a barefooted boy running faster than anyone he's ever seen before which changes his life. I think this book won a Newbery award because it spreads a serious topic, deforestation. Deforestation is a very serious topic and it's mainly happening everywhere. In 100 years, animals will adapt or have to die at the rate deforestation is happening.

Joyful Noise is about bugs and what they do and look like. It changes moods through the book. During the Whirlig Beetles the words talk about circular motions. Then the saddest poem was the Requiem two praying mantis were praying for all these bugs. At the end it said last night we had the winters first killing frost. I think this book won the Newbery Medal for its variety of poems.

When Brian Robinson gets on a small bush plane to go see his father he doesn't know what he's in for. When he is about halfway there, flying over the "bush" (Canadian Wilderness) the pilot of the bush plane suffers a heart attack and dies. The plane plummets down into a lake, Brian survives and is left to fend for himself in the Canadian Wilderness with a small hatchet his mother had given him before he left. I think Hatchet won the Newbery Honor because it was very suspenseful and filled with action like when Brian's lungs were bursting underwater when he tried to swim into the underwater wreckage to recover the emergency survival kit.
