Neil in Ms. Ludtke's Room

Hide and Seek Fog by Alvin Tresselt

The book Hide and Seek Fog is a great book to read. It tells about how a lobster man sees the fog roll in. The boat race is cancelled, the mom tries to brighten every one's spirit by putting on bright colored clothes. The lobster man pasts time by painting buoys. He could also hear he mournful lost voices of the foghorns. The children played hide and seek in the fog and the men and women needed lanterns to see through the fog. The next day the fog cleared and the fishermen arranged another boat race. I think it got the Caldecott Award because of it's great illustrations.

  1. I love the illustrations in this book too! The muted watercolor drawings are perfect to capture the feeling of a foggy day on the water. Did it remind you of our beach on a foggy day?
