Roy Everharbt just moved from Boseman, Montana to Coconut Cove, Fl. He is not happy about it, but thanks to the biggest bully in school, Dana, Roy sees a strange barefoot boy running down the sidewalk. Soon Roy finds that kid is called "Mullet Fingers" and needs help to save burrowing owls at the construction site of a future Mother Paula Pancake House. Along with Beatrice, Roy, Mullet Fingers and Beatrice, the three middle school friends have to stop the construction once and for all. See if the three friends complete their goal by reading "Hoot." I think Hoot won the Newbery medal because of the way Carl Hiaasen describes the characters, like the sly Mullet Fingers.

The book, Martin's Big Words is about Martin Luther King, Jr. When he was a young discrimination was around. When Martin got older he got tired of the sign " White Only" on the best bathroom, the best restaurant, and the test seat in the theater. I think this book deserves an award because it teaches you a lesson about what happens in the old days.

The Tale of Despereaux is an examplary book. It is very exciting and adventurous. It also uses good descriptive words. The book feels like you are right next to what is happening in the book. It is like you can see, hear, smell, touch and even taste the actions. That is why I think the book got the honor award.

This book was about how there was a not so healthy girl. She had said she had one hundred dresses in her closet, but she wore the same dress every day. So one day, she invited them to her house to see them and there was one hundred dresses in there. Read the book to find our who she had one hundred dresses but only wore one. I thin this book was chosen because of the creative writing and drawing. Also, it helps readers understand how grateful they are.

Gilly Hopkins is a foster child who does not understand family. She is sent to live with Maine and her foster brother, William. She will understand family and learn to love. I thought that it was a great book because of the moral. It was a wonderful book and I hope you read it.

The name of this book is Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. Roy is not happy about moving to Florida, he even quotes "Disney is an armpit compared to Montana." The last two years he's happily been living in Boseman, Montana. Roy's family moves a lot because his dad works with the department of justice. Out of all the places Roy has lived, his favorite was Montana. One day down in Coconut Cove, Fl. he spots a barefooted boy running faster than anyone he's ever seen before which changes his life. I think this book won a Newbery award because it spreads a serious topic, deforestation. Deforestation is a very serious topic and it's mainly happening everywhere. In 100 years, animals will adapt or have to die at the rate deforestation is happening.

In this book a 12 year old boy called Moose has a sister named Natalie who is 15 and has a mental problem. Moose and some other friends he meets, such as Piper, Jimmy, Abby, and Theresa do this project where they take people's clothes to Alcatrez. They live on Alcatrez and so they have the children's clothing washed by convicts, such as Al Capone. Read this book an find out what happens next. I think this book is a Newbery winner because of it's amazing story and characters.
